ICS Value, July 2015 = 2817 (Base = 1000, March 2011)
The Index of Cyber Security is a measure of risk. A higher index value indicates a perception of increasing risk, while a lower index value indicates the opposite.
Introduction - July 2015
The Index of Cyber Security rose by 1.9% over the previous month. The increase is largely due to a worsening of the public perception, the perceived risk from nation states, and data theft risks.
The fastest rising risks for the month were as follows:
- Overall: Media & public perception +4.4%.
- Weapons: Phishing/social engineering +3.8%.
- Effect desired: Data theft +3.4%.
Most risk indicators were up when compared to the previous month.
As before, in the coming days, we will share with our respondents the detailed report from this survey, outlining each of the component sub-indices that constitute the aggregate index. We continue to expand our respondent base each month and are looking for qualified referrals to security practitioners.
